Stock materials that will GET USED!

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

Who finds buying homeschool supplies intimidating!? There are SO many curriculums to choose from, and often times any veteran homeschooler can vouche that you end up not using a lot of the materials. That can be a real bummer on your motivation, time, and wallet.

My advice? Ditch strict curriculums, and invest in open ended materials that promote creativity in the home, and won't go to waste! Then, takes bits and pieces of learning models you are inspired from, and coincide with your child's learning rhythm.

This summer, bulk up on materials such as...

Sketch books and notebooks

Books of interest to the child

Modeling clay

Water colors

Acrylic paints

Paint brushes

Crayons

Chalk

Chalk board (can be handheld)

Dry erase markers

White board (mini)

Finepoint markers/pens

Small-Med blank canvasses

Wool

Yarn

Felt sheets

Scissors

Glue sticks and paste

Popsicle sticks

Clothespins

Pipecleaners

Beads

Buttons

Cotton balls

Salt

Sugar

Beeswax

Seeds and pits

Wooden tokens

Wooden peg dolls

wooden blocks

Baking soda

Cornstarch

Flour

Vinegar

Scap papers

Scrap fabric

Sand

Weighted blankets, dolls, or vests

Puppets

Hoola-hoops

Magnetic tiles

Sensory bottles

Fidget toys

Puzzles

Literacy and math games

Cooperative games

Busy boards and books

Old VCR, remotes, electronics that can be taken apart.

Old door knobs, locks, hinges, and tools for tinkering.

Stickers

Scrap book materials

What open ended materials would you add to this list!? 🤗
